FAQ's

Is Northside all one school?

Yes, Northside is a K3-12th grade school, but we do offer two different campus options. We have our West Campus which serves students in K4 through 4th grade. The West campus is located off Kitti Wake Drive in West Columbia. We also have our Lexington Campus that houses K3 through 12th grade and is located off of Sunset Boulevard in Lexington. We are one school with two campuses striving to carry out the same mission and vision by lovingly leading and equipping students to believe, defend and proclaim the Truth of Jesus Christ which is the Holy Bible from Genesis to Revelation.

What grades are available?

West Campus- K4 through 4th grade Lexington Campus- K3 through 12th grade

What are your class sizes like?

K3 class capacity is set at 12 students with one teacher and one assistant per class. K4 class capacity is set at 16 with one teacher and one assistant per class. K5 class capacity is set at 18 with one teacher and one assistant per class. 1st and 2nd grade class capacities are set at 18 students. 3rd and 4th grade class capacities are set at 20 students. 5th grade class capacity is set at 18 students. 6th-12th grade class capacities are set at 20 students. Please note that these are capacity limits, however, actual class sizes may vary within the capacity limit.

Do your students wear uniforms?

Yes. We are a uniform school. We use a uniform company called Flynn O’Hara. Information documents about uniform specifications by grade level are located under the parents’ tab on the website.

What are your school hours?

Class begins at 8:00am each day. School dismisses between 2:15-3:15 pm each day depending on grade level/school division. Our school office is open 8:00 am- 4:00 pm during the school year, and 9:00-3:00 during the summer. The front doors open at 7:45 am each day.

Do you offer before and after school care?

Yes. We have before care available for students from 7:15-7:45 am for an additional $40/month. We offer after care from the end of the school day until 6:00 pm for K3-8th grade students. After care is an additional cost of $240/month. titles and descriptions. It gives people access to all the info they need, while keeping your layout clean. When does your school year start and end?

Our first day of school is always the Tuesday after Labor Day. Our school year typically ends around the first week of June. We have an academic calendar which is available on the parents’ tab on our website.

Does Northside provide lunch for students?

Our school provides a hot lunch option for our students. Hot lunch is catered to our school each day. Families have the option to choose the days they would like to order hot lunch for their student and purchase the lunches ahead of time (the cost of hot lunch is NOT included in tuition). Hot lunches have to be preordered when the form is sent out. Students may opt to bring a lunch box from home for lunch. Please note- We are a NUT FREE facility. This means that student snacks and lunches brought from home need to be packed and prepared using nut free ingredients.

Do your students attend chapel?

Yes, our students attend chapel once a week. We have primary, elementary, middle, and high school chapel services.

What curriculums do you use?

We utilize many curriculums within the school. The curriculums used vary by grade level and subject area. Curriculums used within the school, include but are not limited to Deep Roots, Abeka, Saxon, BJU, Purposeful Design, IEW, Mystery of History, ABC Jesus Loves Me, Shurley Grammar, and many more.

Does your school offer extracurricular activities?

Yes, we offer a variety of different options such as Athletics (most begin at middle school), Fine Arts (music lessons), RunHard Club, Chess Club, Robotics, Drama/Theatre, Sports Camps, etc.

Do you offer financial aid?

We do not have a financial aid program, but we are glad to talk through options with families if needed. Also, we do accept the SC Education Trust Fund Grant.

What qualifications do your teachers have?

We require that our teachers have a bachelor’s degree, though a master’s degree is preferred, and require that they obtain and uphold an ACSI teaching certificate. We also ensure that all teachers have a relationship with Jesus Christ and are active members of a local church.

What is the cut-off date for birthdays of children entering K3-K5?

All students entering K3-K5 must have reached the appropriate age before June 1st of the school year. (For example, a child applying for our K4 program must turn four years old prior to June 1st of the year they are planning to begin the program.)

Do your students learn about the Bible?

We are a Bible believing Christian school, which means that our students are taught Bible every day as one of their core subject areas from K3-12th grade. We also have age-appropriate weekly chapel services that all students attend as well. In addition, we expect that all classes to be biblically integrated and taught from a Biblical worldview.

Do you have to be a member of Northside Baptist Church to attend the Academy?

No, we do not require that our students or staff be members of Northside Baptist Church.
