Admissions FAQ's

Hello! I am Rebecca Hamrick, Director of Admissions.  I am here to walk you through the process of applying to have your child attend NCA. Please do not hesitate to connect with me.

When should I fill out an application for my child?

Applications for upcoming school years open on October 1st of the year before. This means if you are interested in the 2027-2028 school year for your child, you should apply on or after October 1st, 2026. You may potentially end up in a wait pool if all spots are already filled when you apply, so we encourage families to apply early and get the ball rolling soon after applications open.

Who can attend the tour?

Our tours are geared towards parents/guardians, showing the facilities and answering questions about the school. However, children are always welcome to attend with their parents/guardians.

How long do tours typically last?

On average tours last about 45 minutes. Our tours include a time of conversation, touring the facilities, and answering questions.

How will my child be assessed?

Entrance assessments are given to all applicants as a part of the admissions process. All assessments are age-appropriate and given one on one or in a small group setting. Assessments for K3-2nd grade are given verbally and using paper/pencil materials. Assessments for 3rd-12th grade are proctored by an NCA staff member, issued using iPads, and scored by an outside testing company, IOWA.

What can we expect from the family interview?

Family interviews are typically done by our Head of School, Pastor Scott Crede, or Assistant Head of School, Michelle Brewer. During the interview they will ask some questions, get to know your family better, and share pertinent information with you about the school. The interviews are welcoming, and often a highlight of the admissions process for prospective families.

What if I have additional questions?

We are always happy to help. If you have additional questions, you can email our Director of Admissions, Rebecca Hamrick at admissions@ncak12.org, or give her a call at 803-520-5657.

How long does the admissions process take?

The admissions process typically takes about two weeks. The time frame may vary depending on how long it takes to receive records from previous schools and the scheduling of entrance testing and interviews.
