My name is Michelle Brewer. I am the Assistant Head of Schools at Northside Christian Academy. I am so amazed at how God has been preparing me for this journey my entire life. Truett Cathy founder of Chick-fil-A has often stated "Find something you love and you will never work a day in your life." I can honestly say that from my very first day of teaching until now, I have never felt like I was going to work. At eighteen years old I entered my first classroom as a substitute teacher. I had the time of my life. I could not wait to be a teacher. I finished my BA in education from Tennessee Technological University in three years. I was blessed to be a classroom teacher for the next twelve years. The Lord then led me to pursue a Master's Degree in curriculum with an emphasis in guidance and counseling. I wanted to focus on helping children emotionally. After receiving my Master's degree, I had the privilege of serving the Lord for eleven years as an Elementary Counselor. The summer of 2008 the Lord moved us to Lexington, South Carolina because of my husband's work. Shortly after we moved here we began to pray for the Lord to raise up a Christian School in Lexington, where children would learn His Word and bring glory to His name. After much prayer and seeking, he gave me the verse Habakkuk 1:5 "Be utterly astounded! For I will work a work in your days which you would not believe, though it were told you." I am eternally grateful that the Lord allowed me to be one of the co-founders of Northside Christian Academy. Every day I am "Utterly Astounded" at how God is at work at NCA!!
I am married to Greg and we have two daughters Jansey and Maryn. Jansey was in the eighth grade and Maryn in the fourth grade when the school was started. Jansey was a part of the very first graduating class from NCA and Maryn graduated in 2020.
My life verse is 2 Cor. 12:9: "And He said to me, "My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness. " Therefore most gladly I will rather boast in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me. "
My ministry verse is Is. 61:1-3: "The Spirit of the Lord GOD is upon Me, Because the LORD has anointed Me To preach good tidings to the poor; He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, To proclaim liberty to the captives, And the opening of the prison to those who are bound; 2 To proclaim the acceptable year of the LORD, And the day of vengeance of our God; To comfort all who mourn, 3 To console those who mourn in Zion, To give them beauty for ashes, The oil of joy for mourning, The garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; That they may be called trees of righteousness, The planting of the LORD, that He may be glorified."
I pray that as I seek to serve the Lord and our precious families at NCA that I will always bring Him glory.
