Jordan Schmidt
Upper School Art Teacher

My name is Jordan Schmidt. This past May, I graduated from Clemson University
with a degree in Production Studies in Performing Arts with a Scenic Art emphasis
and a minor degree in Fine Art. Throughout college, I had some incredible work
opportunities from painting professionally at a regional theatre in Greenville
to painting on two Nationall Broadway tours.

Towards the end of my collegiate career, however, I felt called to work outside of the
theatre world focusing more on being a freelance artist and photographer. I
believe God was preparing me for this position at NCA, ensuring I would have the
experiences and skillset that I needed to be a strong leader and a well-rounded
educator in the arts.  Looking back through college, I can see the ways God was
shaping and preparing me for this next chapter.

I’ve been recently praying with the phrase, “Talent is not a reward to be glorified but
a call to humility, beauty, and service,” and I hope to embody and inspire that same
attitude as my students and I journey together this year.

Romans 8: 24-25 “For in hope we are saved. Now, hope that sees itself is not hope.
For who hopes for what one sees? If we hope for what we do not see, we wait with
endurance.”
