Eddie Blackmon
Upper School History

My name is Eddie Blackmon and I teach High School History. This is my second year at NCA and prior to teaching, I spent 22 years in the Air Force, which eventually took me to Wichita, KS. After retiring from the Air Force, I stayed in Wichita and earned a BA in Military History from American Military University and an MS in Teaching and Learning from Colorado State Global University. While completing my education, I was the Assistant Athletic Director and high school soccer coach at Sunrise Christian Academy and once I finished my studies, I began teaching History there and have done so for six years.

History is not just names and dates, it is real stories, of real people that did real things, along with linking concepts of how we got to where we are today and what can we learn from it. History is a blast, and I GET to teach it. I don't want students to just know facts, I want them to ask "who, what, where, when and how" but most importantly, "why?", and then answer those questions. That is what makes history fun.

Regarding our Lord, I wholly believe the Father wants an intimate relationship with us, through Jesus Christ. Everything He does in our lives has the opportunity to bring us closer to Him and make us more like His Son, if we act upon it. Faith in Jesus is not a "do and don't" list, but a relationship with a real Person. One that exalts, honors and glorifies our Lord. It is my goal to strengthen my own relationship with Him and communicate this to others, who may or may not know, that they may do the same.

Personally, I am originally from Savannah, GA, was previously stationed in Sumter, SC, and have visited places all over the world, so I am looking forward to returning to the Southeast for the first time in almost 20 years. I am married and have two grown daughters and am truly grateful for this opportunity!
