Middle School Bible & English
Galatians 2:20 - "I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me.” (NKJV)
This life verse has had a profound impact on my life ever since attending Columbia International University in the late 1980s. By His grace, God saved me on July 19, 1982. After graduating from CIU in 1991, I entered the teaching ministry through the back door. I had planned on youth ministry, but God had different plans for my life. I was part of a youth internship in Mount Holly, New Jersey, that ended in 1993. Seeking God’s will, an opportunity opened at Lighthouse Christian School in Lumberton, New Jersey, to teach 3rd to 4th grade. My wife was teaching 1st-2nd grade at the time. Immediately, I fell in love with teaching in Christian schools.
The teaching ministry continued for ten years at Faith Christian School in Hamilton Square, New Jersey. I had the privilege to teach middle school Bible and English during that time. I also considered a call to the pastoral ministry, but it never came to fruition. I had many opportunities to preach and teach God’s word at school and church, and I loved every minute of it. As we had children, my wife Homeschooled them.
In 2005, God led me in a different direction for ten years. I became an ophthalmic technician and enjoyed doing all the preliminary testing before patients saw an eye doctor. I was able to focus on teaching and preaching in a few local churches in the area. However, after my father died in 2014, God called me back into the teaching ministry. First, He led me to get a Master of Education at Columbia International University. After this, He led our family to First Christian Academy in High Springs, Florida. For the past three years, I have taught middle and high school English and Bible at FCA, and my wife taught middle and high school science and English.
Through a process of events, God has led us to Northside Christian Academy. We are excited about what God is doing at NCA! Since I am from Lexington, SC, and both of our families are in the Carolinas, we started searching for teaching positions in the area. We were thrilled that God has opened this door to teach at NCA because we share the same philosophy of ministry and curriculum choices that have been incorporated in the school!
My wife, Elizabeth (CIU grad in 1991), and I have been happily married since August 3, 1991. We have the following four children: Josiah, Cara (Who is attending CIU in our footsteps), Micah, and Ezra (Who will be in 10th grade at NCA). I love to read classical literature (especially mysteries) and write poetry/novels when I get the chance. I am a huge Carolina Panthers fan and a huge North Carolina Tarheels fan.
